Club President’s Corner

January 31st, 2007 | by EvergreenRotary |

A fair number of you had questions for Gretchen after her brief report on the Colorado Haiti Project.  Below is a recap of that and details about the fundraising event on February 10th.  Dr. Paul Farmer will be one of the featured speakers.  I have read his recent acceptance speech for the Union Medal Award and found him to be captivating.  He has spent nearly 25 years in Haiti as a health care professional, so he knows well the trying situation there:

Dr. Paul Farmer will speak at a fundraiser for the Colorado Haiti Project.  The project is located in Chevalier, Haiti, where  fellow Rotarians Marcia Walsh and Brenda Hagerman are now at work.   Bob Hagerman recently informed us that they are well and working very hard with the Haitian and American medical team that they joined there at Chevalier. This is a most remote area of Haiti, near Petit trou des Nippes. Marcia and Gretchen seek another local team member to go with them to found a Rotary Club there, end of April.

Here is the info for the fundraiser, as requested by many of you!
