Happy Hump Day, Rotarians!

Thanks to all who turned out for the Summer Picnic last Thursday evening — despite cool weather, we dined outdoors by the pool (a few stalwart kids even got in!), enjoyed a few drinks with friends, and (drum roll, please) successfully defended our title as reigning VOLLEYBALL CHAMPS. Very fun.

Now it’s time to get into the fall groove as our kids move back into school. We’ll begin this Friday with a program by Dr. Cindy Stevenson, Superintendent of Jeffco Schools. She’ll present her annual District Update, giving us an overview of what’s new, what’s working and what’s not. Don’t miss this insider’s look at our kids’ school system!

We’ll also be graduating two Red Badgers on Friday and welcoming three new members into the club. Don’t forget that we’ll be needing mentors for these and other new members already in the pipeline — if you’re interested in helping out here, please attend the Mentoring Workshop on Monday, September 10, 6PM, at Hanna Holt’s house.

Lastly, thanks to Toni Stephens and Kimra Perkins for their good work in getting the word out about Ben Allen’s wife, Kathleen. I understand that Kathleen’s looking at a few more weeks of hospitalization, but that Kimra has facilitated coverage on everything from the family’s food to laundry to housecleaning! No worries, Ben, we’ve got your back.

“Rotary Shares” — yes, indeed.

See you Friday,
Mark
