You Need to be a Road Warrior!

The group pictured below is an elite bunch to be sure. On September 29 we need at least this many hands and we would like to meet or exceed the magic minimum of 30.

Road Warriors

This clean-up activity has become a breeze to complete in a short time. See picture and story [after the jump] for results from our May outing.
Details:

Road Warriors will meet in the El Rancho parking lot at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, to clean up the Hwy 74 roadsides between El Rancho and King Soopers.

Wear sturdy shoes and gloves and protective clothing. By the looks of that photo above, you may want your sunglasses to eliminate squinting at the moment of glory.

Bring your own coffee—I’ll provide the donuts and water! Remember, this qualifies as a make-up meeting too!

Please send me an email gwycoff@earthlink.net with name and phone number where you can be reached early on the morning of September 29 (just in case we have a weather issue).

We need two SPECIAL kinds of help this time: (1) Truck to pick up white bags and deliver to the EDS Transfer Station – this is an hour’s work, starting at approx 9 a.m. and (2) Weed whacker to knock down the weeds in front of the Evergreen welcome sign. Let me know if you’re feeling SPECIAL!!

Thanks all!

Road Warrios - May 2007

Our Road Warriors have become a well-oiled machine—26 people showed up ON TIME and READY TO GO Saturday morning.

The weather was perfect. With orange bags and white bags in hand, they struck out for all parts of the roadway between El Rancho and King Soopers. Methodically, the white bags with recyclables and the orange bags destined for land fill appeared on the roadside. Crew members enjoyed banter and laughs all the way. Quite suddenly the last ten people collided with each other at about 8:30 a.m. and it was all over. The job went very fast for two primary reasons: (1) FULL CREW (a large group makes it far easier for everyone); (2) CONSISTENT ATTENTION (when we go back 2 or 3 times a year, there is less to pick up). We now have the math working in our favor and the job is nothing more than a little treasure hunt—preceded by donuts.

Special thanks to Mike Israel—the last one out; and to Keith Knight—for picking up the white bags and recycling!
