Road Warriors: Think Safety

Road Warriors, please keep track of the following information:

When: Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 a.m.

Where: El Rancho parking lot

What: Clean up the Hwy 74 roadside and median between El Rancho and King Soopers!

Why: It’s the Rotary Club of Evergreen’s Adopt-a-Highway commitment!

What to bring: Work gloves, sturdy shoes, your own coffee

What to expect: Water, donuts, picker-upper gadgets, fresh air and about an hour of exercise

What else: Credit as a make-up meeting

Weather date: Saturday, Oct. 6—if Mother Nature should deem the 29th unacceptable! If any doubt – call Gene.

Week-in-advance Forecast: partly cloudy, high 62, 10% chance of precipitation (i.e. perfect)

THINK SAFETY above ALL ELSE!

  • Be prepared with WORK GLOVES, STURDY SHOES, and PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.
  • Avoid risks.
  • Avoid or exercise extreme caution on steep embankments.
  • Be extra cautious at blind curves AND in medians.
  • Stay visible. Do not work alone, stay with your group.
  • Face the traffic at all times.
  • Don’t dart into the road to pick up trash.
  • No horseplay of any kind
  • No headsets or radios
  • No waving to passers-by
  • Tire scraps may be fresh and HOT
  • Do not pick up chemicals or medical waste—REPORT IT!
  • Do not pick up guns and knives—REPORT IT!
  • Do not pick up dead animals—REPORT IT!
  • Avoid wildlife
  • Don’t overstuff or compact trash bags.
  • Recylcables: White Bags
  • Landfill: Orange Bags
