Hello Rotary!
Here’s what’s on tap for Friday:
PROGRAM: ARK Initiative (Art Reaching Kids).
Kimberly Moore, director of the Evergreen Arts Center, will join us to talk about a program that uses art to help kids at risk. Kimberly says: “These are teens from 9 years up who come from destructive backgrounds. Many of their parents are in jail and they have all turned to and alcohol as a means of coping. This program offers the kids hope. They are encouraged, praised and are instructed on how to bring out their inner creative talents. This is a program that changes lives. The Center is thrilled to be a part of such an innovative project that offers hope and success to individuals who may have never experienced this before. It is a great program and I am excited to share it with the Evergreen Rotary.”
FYI, Rotary this year granted the Evergreen Arts Center $1000 for kids’ programs — don’t miss this chance to see where your money is going!
WINES: 200 To Go!
Okay, a little over a week to go and still 200 tickets to sell. I’m reminded of an old high school basketball cheer: “B-E–A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E, BE AGGRESSIVE! HEY, BE AGGRESSIVE!” Corny, yes, but it worked for me on the court and I’m hoping it’ll motiivate you too. Time to pull out all the stops to move these last 200 tickets!
Toward that end, here’s an email that I’ve been sending around. Perhaps you can cut, paste and adapt it for your own email list — (and, yes, we’ll have a TV there for World Series fans):
Hello Friends –
Evergreen Rotary’s annual Wines in the Woods celebration is coming up on Saturday, October 27, 6PM-9PM, at The Pines at Genesee.
We’ll have 21 wineries there for you to sample, together with food from 10 different restaurants and caterers.
And the 150-item silent auction will be entirely automated — just enter your highest bid on one of the 40 laptops spread around and then forget it and go have fun. The system will use only as much as needed to win the item, just like Ebay.
Tickets are a snap. Just log on to our website, www.evergreenrotary.org, and follow the link to buy tickets online. $60 each.
Where Does the Money Go? 100% of the proceeds goes to fund projects locally and around the world. Here’s where last year’s proceeds went: Evergreen Arts Council; Evergreen Music Festival; Friends of Mt. Evans and Lost Creek Wilderness; Community Recycling Bins; Senior Resource Center; Mountain Resource Center; Operation Warmheart (emergency funds for military families at Fort Carson); Mt. Evans Hospice; Evergreen Rodeo; North Evergreen Activity Trails; Music for Haiti concert; and projects in 19 countries around the world. Your support matters!
Hope to see you there!
Regards,
[YOUR NAME]
P.S. I just saw the World Series schedule — the first game in Denver is on, you guessed it, October 27. But WITW starts at 6PM and the game doesn’t start until 8PM, so please don’t let baseball keep you from coming to Wines! And, yes, we’ll have a TV there.”
Until Friday –
Mark
