Message from the President
February 21st, 2008 | by EvergreenRotary |Here’s what’s on tap at Rotary this Friday. Special thanks to our own Steve Feldman for setting this up:
Seeking Common Ground (SCG) is a Denver-based non-profit empowering individuals to change the world by creating peaceful communities. SCG’s flagship program, Building Bridges for Peace, brings together American, Israeli and Palestinian teens for a year-long leadership development and peace building program that begins with a 2-week summer intensive held in Colorado.
Since the program’s inception in 1994, more than 700 teens have experienced this process of cohabitating, cooperative and collaborating with the ‘other.’ Building Bridges for Peace takes participants through a series of communication and leadership workshops, collaborative and individual art projects, dialogue sessions, experiential outdoor activities and other exercises. SCG also works with young adults from Northern Ireland and South Africa. SCG’s newest program, BBfP-Denver, is an international education program designed for Denver-area high school students. This program includes an international enhancement trip to a post-conflict/conflict region where SCG conducts programs.
Erin Breeze is the associate director of SCG and the program director of the BBfP programs. She holds a BA in International Affairs from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MA in Peace and Development Studies
from the University of Limerick, Ireland, where she studied as an inaugural George J. Mitchell scholar. She has been with SCG for 4 years. In addition to directing programs, Erin’s role includes research and evaluation,
curriculum development and program consultation.Opportunities at SCG for community members to become involved are many and include: acting as a host family for U.S. and Middle Eastern participants during the summer program, volunteering on a committee such as SCG’s
annual Circles of Change Awards Breakfast; participating in SCG’s new “Study Trip for Peace, Empowerment and Change” to Israel; contributing time, money and/or expertise.

See you Friday,
