This Friday at Rotary
May 7th, 2008 | by EvergreenRotary |Rotarians,
Well, it’s time for another riveting update on what’s cooking at Rotary.
FIRST, we’re stuffed to the gills with ANNOUNCEMENTS! Many of you have asked for time and, as always, we’ll do our best to accommodate — however, please remember that BREVITY is the soul of wit (and we Rotarians do like our meetings to be witty). Much appreciated.
Second, we’ll have a number of guests, including GLITTERATI from District 5450. District Governor DAVE BEALL and his lovely wife, Ann, will join us.
Third, PRESENTATIONS and more presentations. Uff da.
Lastly, a great SPEAKER. Mark Schweitzer is an economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and is also lead officer for the Fed’s Denver branch serving CO, WY and NM. Mark keeps tabs on the regional economy and then briefs Gentle Ben (a/k/a Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke) and the rest of the FOMC prior to their meetings. So, if you’re wondering why the dollar’s so beaten down, why commodities are sky high, and how the Fed’s monetary policy figures into it all, you’re in luck! (Remember, of course, that economists do have a language all their own … and what I said above about brevity usually doesn’t pertain). MANY THANKS to Sam Smith for arranging this one!
Aaannddd … just one more thing. Karen Lindsay asked that I give you all a heads up on the HABITAT FOR HUMANITY work day, this Saturday, May 10. Details galore on page 2.
