Squaw Mt Lookout Work Day
June 4th, 2008 | by EvergreenRotary |SQUAW MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT WORK DAY is scheduled for SAT. JULY 12. Please let Sondra Kellogg know if you are able to help with carpentry, painting or cleaning. The District Ranger, Daniel Lovato, will tell us what projects are to be accomplished and he will supply the tools and supplies. You are, however, welcome to bring some of your own tools.
A box lunch will be provided so Sondra needs to know if can help. Call her at 303 674 4903 or e mail at kelloggsa@aol.com. Since the tower is small and rather fragile in places, a small work group of approximately fifteen is needed. Last fall Evergreen Rotary Club had three Rotarians working on the tower. I am hopeful that we can once again be represented.
Please remember that this job involves working at a high elevation of 11,500′ and one needs to be in good physical condition.
Since the Evergreen Triple Bi Pass is the same day on Squaw Pass, we cannot gain access to Highway #103 (Squaw Pass) until 8:30 AM. Be on the “lookout” for bike riders. We plan to meet at the Echo Ski Area Parking lot at 9:00 AM where the USFS will begin to shuttle the crew to the tower over a very bumpy four wheel road. Please bring your own water & sunscreen.
