Thanksgiving came early this year for 165 mountain area seniors.  For the third successive year, the Rotary Clubs of Evergreen and Mountain Foothills joined forces to treat the seniors to a traditional Thanksgiving meal, including roast turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry relish, a variety of rolls and breads and assorted pies and desserts.  All the food was prepared and served by a team of about 60 Rotarians working under the careful direction of Mimi Nelson, a member of the Evergreen Club.

Mark Vickstrom served as MC for the event, and kept the group laughing (and groaning) with his Thanksgiving "jokes" while the guests were entertained with live accordion music. This year's event was held at Christ the King Catholic Church, which generously made its kitchen and fellowship hall available to the clubs for the event.

The two clubs host the free event each year as a way of saying thank you to the Evergreen community, and to provide a fellowship opportunity for those who may be alone during the Thanksgiving holiday season.  The smiling faces and glowing compliments of those in attendance were extremely gratifying and made the hard work of all the volunteers worthwhile.
