The International Service Committee is one of five “avenues of service” committees of the Rotary Club of Evergreen. Its purpose is to coordinate service projects for the Club in the greater world community. Any member of the Club may be a member of the International Service Committee.
We are committed to the wellbeing of all people in the world, particularly women and children in developing countries. Areas of focus are clean water/sanitation, health, education, disaster relief, and microcredit. Through our projects, we promote community capacity building by providing such things as leadership training and education in sustainable agricultural practices. All of our efforts are aimed at not only finding solutions to problems in developing areas of the world, but also at implementing those solutions so that the communities can thrive independent of outside help. Projects help alleviate hunger, increase birth weights, promote world peace and understanding, and help make our global community a better place.
Below is a partial list of projects the Rotary Club of Evergreen has supported in the past.
- Youth Exchange Programs: The Philippines, Norway, Germany, and Switzerland
- Water and Sanitation Projects: Guatemala, Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Haiti
- Microfinance projects: Zimbabwe and other countries
- Teacher Training Programs: Cambodia
